Metricooler,
You're probably reading this somewhere hot, somewhere slow, or somewhere with sketchy Wi-Fi. That’s usually the August energy.
So I decided to try something different this week. A social media quiz, a word search, and one spot-the-difference; something fun to enjoy whether you're fully offline or just pretending to be.
Answers are at the bottom, but no peeking! Metricool is watching 👀

Six Degrees was the first social network? It launched in 1997 and only let you search for other users and add them to a list. Facebook was still years away from connecting everyone in a single click.

Musical.ly was the app ByteDance bought to break into the Western market?
After launching the first version of TikTok in China (where it's known as Douyin), ByteDance confirmed the acquisition in 2017. By August 2018, Musical.ly was gone, and TikTok had taken over.

Answers:
1. According to our 2026 Instagram Study, carousels get the most saves — 9x more than single image posts.
2. Snapchat is the impostor here. Meta tried to buy it back in 2013, when it was still Facebook. When that fell through, they built their own version — and launched Instagram Stories in 2016.
3. Our 2026 TikTok Study makes it clear: the For You page is the platform's main traffic source, driving 7 out of every 10 views.
4. Split results: the Reel won on reach, and the carousel came out ahead on interactions.
5. The character limit for a free account is 280 — double the original 140 that Twitter launched with, updated in 2017. Premium accounts can now go up to 25,000 characters. At that point, just write a thread.
6. 61% of views come from the Shorts feed, making it the best format for discovery and top-of-funnel reach. More data in our 2026 YouTube Study.
7. True. Instagram runs a separate algorithm for each section: Reels, Stories, Explore, and the Feed. Each one is tuned to show each user the content most likely to keep them engaged.
8. If your test instincts told you D — "B and C are both correct" — you were right.
Metricool's Reporting section goes beyond standard analytics by adding an AI layer that gives you the perspective your data was missing.
With Reporting, you turn your numbers into reports ready to analyze, share, or present to clients.
9. Here are the 3 changes:

10. Food delivery is not on the roadmap. But a restaurant with a full metrics-themed menu? That is a great idea. The ReachBurger with Impression Fries and Engagement Sauce. We'll get back to you on that.
For now: content scheduling, best times, and analytics — with a lot more still to explore.

In this video, we use the posts with the highest reach and strongest interactions, the competitors we track, and our best times in Metricool to plan four Instagram posts with Claude. Then we’ll add the final designs from Google Drive, schedule the week, and review everything in the Metricool planner.
PD
I’m fascinated by this Threads thread where people share how they visualize a year in their minds.
How do you picture the year? For me it's four seasons: almost-summer, summer, almost-winter, and winter. Spring and fall are transitions, not seasons. And somehow 2026 is already more than halfway over.
